The Firm · Where We Practice

Areas We Serve

A Fresno trial practice for the whole Central Valley — and a statewide California practice in the cases that demand it.

One office. 1265 W. Shaw Ave., Suite 100, Fresno. No branch-office network — and no hand-offs.

Home base: Fresno

Attorney David L. Milligan has practiced from Fresno for more than 28 years. The office sits at 1265 W. Shaw Ave., a short drive from the Fresno County Superior Court and the Robert E. Coyle Federal Courthouse, home of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California — the two courts where most Central Valley injury cases are decided.

That matters because we try cases. Local juries, local judges, local defense firms — a trial practice is local knowledge compounded over decades.

Statewide California practices

Some of the firm’s work is inherently statewide. These matters draw clients from every corner of California:

“The very essence of civil liberty certainly consists in the right of every individual to claim the protection of the laws, whenever he receives an injury.”

Chief Justice John Marshall · Marbury v. Madison (1803)

Common Questions

Do I have to come to Fresno to work with the firm?

No. Initial case reviews are handled by phone or video, and most of a case’s work happens by phone, email, and secure document exchange. In-person meetings are arranged when the case calls for them.

Do you take cases outside the Central Valley?

Yes. The firm is a California statewide practice. Several of our concentrations — aviation accidents, women’s prison abuse claims, LA County juvenile hall abuse, and environmental contamination — draw clients from every part of the state.

Where will my case be filed?

Venue follows the case, not the lawyer — generally where the incident happened or where a defendant resides. For Central Valley cases that usually means the Fresno County Superior Court or a neighboring county’s superior court; claims with federal defendants or federal questions are filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California.
