- Identify counsel and the parties. Give your contact information, firm, and represented and opposing parties for the conflict check.
- Describe the requested role. Full referral, co-counsel or trial assistance? Briefly describe the matter and its stage without sensitive details.
- Flag urgency. State any known urgent date and its source. Unknown dates or details are acceptable for first contact.
If a deadline is approaching, call. An inquiry does not transfer representation or deadline responsibility; counsel of record remains responsible until an effective change.
Hold medical records, Social Security numbers and detailed confidential material for later. After screening, we can arrange an appropriate transfer method.
